The Swedish label converter placed orders for a P7 press and a new Mark Andy Digital Series inkjet hybrid press platform.

Swedish label converter LariTryck AB invested heavily in Mark Andy at the company’s recent Open House in Warsaw. Looking to add to his existing flexo capacity, which already includes three Mark Andy Performance Series P7 and two 2200 presses located at plants in Nässjö and Bjuv, CEO Johan Ripa placed an order for a fourth P7. This time, Ripa ordered one of the second generation presses with an enhanced platform to be more responsive and productive. But, he didn’t stop at the P7 and went on to place an order for a new Mark Andy Digital Series inkjet hybrid press platform. Commenting on his $2 million purchases, Ripa says: “The Mark Andy P7 presses have allowed us to grow our business year on year by 15%, so we urgently need extra flexo capacity. But when I watched the live demonstration of the Digital Series I could immediately see how it could open opportunities for us in new markets. Of all the manufacturers of digital print technology, Mark Andy has the best understanding of the label market, and I am excited about our prospects with the Digital Series hybrid press.” Speaking for Convertec, Mark Andy’s agent in Scandinavia, Joakim Marcusson comments: “LariTryck has been a long-term Mark Andy user and always invested in the best technology we have to offer – but to secure a P7 flexo order and Digital Series at the same time was a real bonus, and will undoubtedly move Johan Ripa and his team up to the next level of excellence.” The servo-driven P7 is Mark Andy’s top-of-the-range flexo press, and the 6-colour UV machine ordered by LariTryck has a 430mm web width and will be fitted with a corona treater and web cleaner, chill drums for handling unsupported films, delam/relam, cold foil, and Mark Andy’s award-winning QCDC (Quick Change Die Cut) system. It is due for delivery in June 2017 and had only an eight-week lead time from order placement, which proved decisive. The Digital Series specification mirrors that of the demonstration machine in Warsaw, which has a 330mm web width, one flexo unit before Mark Andy’s own CMYK+White inkjet module and two flexo units after, leading to a QCDC module – the concept being to print and convert inline in one pass. According to Timo Donati, Mark Andy’s area sales manager for Scandinavia, “The Digital Series is capable of high-quality printing, decorating, and converting in a single pass at consistent speeds of 76 m/m, making it the most productive narrow web flexo/inkjet hybrid available, with an excellent ROI.” The Digital Series, and a full complement of Mark Andy flexo and digital technologies, are available for live demonstrations on site at the company’s USA headquarters in Chesterfield, MO, as well as in the European headquarters show room in Warsaw, Poland.
